1. Information We Do NOT Collect
Ambit does not harvest, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information (PII). We do not collect:
- Names, email addresses, phone numbers, or account credentials.
- Advertising IDs, hardware identifiers (IMEI, MAC address), or device fingerprints.
- Financial, biometric, or health data.
- Browsing history or app usage telemetry.
2. Location Data & Permissions
Ambit requests location access (precise or approximate) for one single reason: to compute astronomical solar positions (sunrise, solar noon, dusk, and civil twilight) on your 24-hour solar day ring.
Zero-Permission Mode: If you prefer not to grant Android location permissions, you can manually type or select a city from the built-in database. Ambit will calculate solar geometry for that chosen city with 0 permissions requested.
3. Lived Years & Reflection Logs
During onboarding, Ambit asks for your birthdate to draw your concentric lived-year rings. When you perform the “Seal the Day” ritual, your evening confirmations are saved locally. This data remains in the sandboxed local SQLite/Room database on your device. It is never uploaded to any cloud storage unless you explicitly enable standard Android Auto Backup via your own Google Account settings.
4. Third-Party Services & SDKs
Ambit contains zero third-party trackers, analytics SDKs, or advertising networks. There is no Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Meta SDK, or telemetry framework bundled into the application.
5. Data Retention & Your Rights
Because your data is stored strictly on your device, you have complete and immediate control:
- You can clear all data at any time via Android Settings → Apps → Ambit → Clear Storage.
- You can export your sealed days and settings to plain text.
- Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all locally stored data.
6. Children's Privacy
Ambit does not knowingly collect or solicit any personal information from children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EEA). Because the app collects no personal data from any user, it is fully compliant with COPPA and GDPR-K.

How do I download Ambit for Android?
Ambit is published and available directly on the Google Play Store—no waitlists, Google Groups, or testing program enrollment required. Simply install and start using it immediately.
Why does Ambit ask for location, and what if I deny it?
Ambit requires your geographic latitude and longitude solely to calculate local sunrise, solar noon, dusk, and twilight angles to the minute. If you decline location access, you can simply type or select your city from the offline database—Ambit will compute your solar geometry with 0 Android permissions requested.
Where does my birthdate and reflection data live?
100% on your Android device in a sandboxed local database (Android Room). Ambit operates with zero cloud servers, zero user accounts, and zero telemetry SDKs. We have no way to see your data or your location.
What happens in polar latitudes or above the Arctic Circle?
During polar summer (midnight sun) or polar winter (polar night), the solar day ring gracefully reflects reality: the daylight arc closes completely to 360° or recedes to 0°, with solar elevation smoothly indicated by luminous ring brightness. That is natural astronomical physics, not a software bug.
What is the pricing model?
Ambit follows the ethical software ethos of the Smerio ecosystem. No predatory recurring subscriptions or “freemium” streaks. An app whose philosophical core is that time is not a monetizable commodity will never lock basic reflections behind subscription paywalls.
How do I back up or transfer my data?
Ambit integrates with native Android Auto Backup and provides a clean one-click plain text export. If you switch phones, your sealed history moves with your standard Google Drive device backup or manual export file.
